So, one feature I love(d?) about spotify was that whenever I did find a whole in their library - which is often the case with local bands and game soundtracks - I could just buy the album somewhere and have Spotify sync it to my iOS devices.
With the new client they seem to have removed this option. Is this true? If so, is it coming back?
I'd be very disappointed if this feature is gone for good now as I have fairly large amount of music not available on Spotify that I like to mix and match with streaming music in my playlists.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The devices section will be coming back in a future update.
In the meantime:
You won't be able to see an indication in the desktop client that the device is paired with the desktop client. But as long as they both are on the same WiFi network you should be able to trigger the local files sync by toggling the offline toggle on the playlist on your device. Just make sure that the local files are in a playlist of their own (not just the built in local files playlist) so that this will work.
Yes, I would like to know too please.

When is this future update coming???? It's been seven years and I don't know what you're talking about. I need to be able to sync my local files from my computer. I can't copy hundreds of songs to my phone and then make secondary copies of every playlist with thousands of songs on it so I have duplicate playlists -- one copy to listen to on my computer, one copy to listen to on my phone. This is ridiculous. I need to be able to sync local files between my computer and my phone. This is ridiculous. Why would you remove such an obviously important feature?????????????????????????????????
