I can play a song of my Apple Watch but not my iPhone

Solved!

I can play a song of my Apple Watch but not my iPhone

I have a bunch of local songs on my IPhone and they all worked until yesterday. If I go to the local files folder song works. But in any playlist it’s grayed out on the iPhone. However on my watch in the same playlist I can click the song and it works.

Hey @Edennis

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the screenshots you sent.

Since the issue happens with your phone only, it could be related to some damaged cache stored on your iPhone that could be affecting the proper behavior of the app. In this case, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Also, if the issue persists, would you mind checking if this happens adding any local track to any playlist or if it happens with specific tracks/playlists? This will give us a better look at the issue.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd suggest you log out and log in twice in a row onto your Spotify account. This could sound a little bit odd, but this way the system will force a resync of your account in general.

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of your iPhone, along with the Spotify version you're running there?

Lastly, just to confirm, is this happening only with your local files? Are the files stored on your iPhone, or did you sync them from an external device?

Keep us in the loop!

It didn’t work I have a iPhone 12 and am using ver 8.8.27.448. And yes the files are stored on the phone

Hi there,

Thanks for the info. When you say that the local files can still be played from the local files folder, what do you mean exactly? Are they playable with other apps outside of Spotify or are they playable within Spotify only within a specific playlist? Please send us some screenshots of this so we can take a look.

Keep us posted.

the song only works in the local file folder Spotify creates. But if it is added to any playlist then it is grayed out. The song works on other apps as well. The weirdest part is on the playlist in the 3rd photo if I click the song from my watch the song will play. I have no music saved on my watch so it should only play songs my phone can play.
