IPOD v.9.3.5 - can't download the Spotify App

I have just purchased Premium Spotify for my family but cant get the Spotify App to download for my daughters IPOD Touch. It's at the latest IOS version of 9.3.5 and accordingy to the Spotify site this is acceptable for downloading the App.... But I keep getting a message to say I need to upgrade to v.10 (which isnt available for the ipod touch). 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately iOS 9 isn't supported anymore by a lot of developers now.

You can check this support article to see which are the minimum system requirements to install and run Spotify.
