Integration of Spotify and BMW Connected Drive

Anyone having an erratic connection with BMW ? I have a 64 plate 4 series and an up to date iPhone update. Spotify just seems to connect when it likes ? I’ve tried re installing, usb connectivity, restarting phone etc

2013 328i having same issues around this time. Can’t get Spotify to integrate with ConnectedDrive (only as an external device) iPhone and Spotify IOS app up to date.

Only way around I’ve found is before you switch your car ignition on, close off Spotify ( swipe up on iPhone ) and restart. Set the music playing thru the phone speaker then connect to the car thru the USB port. Then just go to multi media on the idrive and it appears. Fails occasionally but I’ve found a a full reset on the iPhone cures it.

2015 F31 What you suggest does work for me to some extent. Dpotify plays and displays album artwork, but I can only control next and previous track. No Spotify menus, playlists etc. But it's better than nothing I suppose.
