Iphone 4S not showing up in devices and not able to sync local files

Hi, I have for the past couple of days been attempting to get my Iphone4s to show up in devices, it is connected to the same WIFI as my laptop and I have also uninstalled/reinstalled my desktop spotify and uninstalled/reinstalled my phone spotify app(which means that I not have to resync every song to my iphone again!) and none of this has worked. I have checked and yes my UnPn is activated also. I have also attempted using a USB for connecting and still nothing.

anybody able to help me here because I have spotify premium and plenty of local files i'd like to be able to sync to my iphone and it just seems a waste of money when it's not working the way it is supposed to.

Can you try disabling any firewalls you have active? Also make sure in Windows Network and Sharing Center your WiFi network is set to a "Home Network".

Its already set to "home network"... tried the firewall thing and still nothing. Not got a clue what to do here

Might be worth trying to set up an ad-hoc wifi network to rule out this being a router issue.
