My Question or Issue

Putting Artists into alphabetical order

I am using Spotify Premium on 2 iPod Touch6s and an iPad Air. On one iPod, the UI shows Browse, Search, Radio and Your Music.  Under Your Music, Artists are listed alphabetically, making finding and scrolling through them easy. (This also has A-Z/# down the right side of the screen to speed up scrolling.)

On the other two devices, the UI shows Home, Search and Your Library;  under Your Library, Artists are listed in a “wth” sort of way, including (at the top) a random limited selection of artists I saved over the past several years, and below it a list of 100s of artists whose songs I’ve saved over the years, but the list is totally random, and is therefore useless for searching through. There is no A-Z/# down the side, that useful function being replaced by useless “Follow” tabs.

I’ve looked through help articles on this website but I’ve found nothing that works to put Artists in alphabetical order.  (The closest I found was directed toward Android devices and doesn’t work for iOs.) I figured after all the complaints I’ve read about this over the past couple of years, Spotify would have gotten around to developing a fix.  Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

Thanks.

Hey there @spiker16,

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

In this case we suggest that you have a look at this article on our support site.

If that doesn't do the trick - can you provide us a screenshot of what you can see when you try to sort your songs.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Sorry about the slow follow-up - been MIA for the past few days.

Odd, but the solution did work, but the UI is definitely different for one iPod than for the other, even with the fix and even though they are both the same generation with the most current iOS for that gen. For example, to allow for quick scrolling there is an up/down arrow slider button on one whereas the other has all the letters of the alphabet running down the side of the screen, allowing for direct access to the letter you want; also, there are additional options in the Your Music/Your Library tab in one version, etc.

I am a bit surprised that it worked this time since when I tried to do the same thing before, sort by artist listed Eric Clapton before Judas Priest before Jeff Beck, while now they’re listed correctly.  A ghost in the machine, perhaps?

Nonetheless, I appreciate the help & pointing me in the right direction.

Hey @spiker16,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

In this case, it's a good idea to give these steps a go. That way you can make sure the app is up-to-date. You can also find more information about the Library experience here.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We'll be happy to help.
