Local Files Sync Practical Limit?

Solved!

Local Files Sync Practical Limit?

I have used MOG for a year or so and am currently trying out Spotify Premium to see if I want to switch. I've liked MOG a lot with my one gripe being that I have to switch back and forth between MOG and itunes depending on which songs I want to listen to. In theory, the local syncing option with Spotify will eliminate this gripe. I have a lot of songs in itunes - over 5,000 and over 30 gb. Is it feasible/practical to sync this number of local files? I've read that the sync is slow, so I'm concerned this would make it impractical to sync that many songs. Also, would the iphone spotify app run ok with that many songs locally synced? Thanks for the help as I try to figure out which service to use.

Just as an update to this question. I did a local, off-line sync of about 4700 songs and about 37 GB. It took all day, about 10 hours to sync. Not too bad if you only do it once or not very often. The lack of ability to clear cache may cause concern as that may force me to re-sync every now and then. Thanks.

Can't say I have ever synced that many, but I would give it a try and see what happens!

I'll have to decide if I'm brave enough to delete all that music from my phone's iTunes and then try to sync the local files with Spotify. That will be a long job. Has anybody tried to do a local sync of 30 gb of music?

Thanks for the update. Any idea how much that lot would weigh if it was on vinyl?

Assuming 10 songs per album and 6.5 oz per album, it would be 112 lb, not inlcuding the album cover.
