Local Files won't sync

Solved!

Local Files won't sync

Hello, I hope someone is able to help me. I bought a few songs from iTunes on my iPhone, I then went to my Windows desktop and added the local files in my playlist. I'm able to listen to the songs on my desktop, but not on my iPhone. It's also impossible to listen to the songs on my Android. The songs are in the playlist, but the name, artist and album is a weak gray color. I don't understand how to get them downloaded, the playlist is available offline on all my 3 devices.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm having the same problem only mine was working perfectly until today.  Last week I discovered this:

https://support.spotify.com/us/learn-more/guides/#!/article/Listen-to-local-files

I followed the steps and it worked! I was so excited to be able to listen to my obscure songs (and Beatles songs) on the Spotify app while in my car.

But now I'm having the exact same issue as the OP. The non-Spotify local files I had downloaded previously are gone from my phone's playlists and I can't download any new ones either.

Could this have anything to do with the Windows 10 upgrade? The timing seems more than coincidental. Has anyone else who upgraded to Win10 noticed this?

SOLVED: It was the Windows Firewall. Spotify was already on the list of allowed apps, so I turned the firewall off altogether and sure enough, my local files synced. I went back to the firewall settings and saw there were two spotify.exe apps listed, one was checked for public networks and one was checked for private networks. I checked them all, turned the firewall back on, and my local files are still there. Yay!
