Local Files

Local Files

I used to be able to sync my local files from my MacBook to my iPhone without any problem, but your newest update for iOS removed the Local Files section where the Playlists tab is. Can you help me out on how to sync local files again? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey @bababuya

What I have been doing for years is I have a playlist that I created called "Local Files" and in the desktop app I have added all my local files to it. Then in the iPhone app I have download that playlist for them to sync over.

It looks like the local files help article has tweaked the wording to match the removal of the dedicated local files playlist. You will need to create your own.

For: Premium only.

  1. Add music files from your desktop (see Desktop instructions) to a playlist.
  2. Log in to Spotify on your iPhone using the same WiFi network as your desktop.
  3. Tap Your Library
  4. Tap Playlists.
  5. Select the playlist containing your music files.
  6. Switch Download on.
A green arrow will appear next to the tracks when the import is complete.
