My Spotify (iOS) is not giving me the option to download songs individually

My Spotify (iOS) is not giving me the option to download songs individually

I have a premium Spotify account and have had it for a while . I’ve always been able to download audio I like. Now whenever I want to download I can’t find the option to do so. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app … I’ve made sure I have the premium subscription … i simply don’t see the option to download any more … i don’t know if this is because of an update or a glitch but I have downloads from before this issue came up and I didn’t need to put them in a playlist for them to be downloaded … whenever I wanted to download … I’d hit download and it would show up in my downloads folder in the ‘ your library ‘

Can someone please help me get that option back ?

Thanks in advance

Hey there @rednebulus,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd like to add some insights. Keep in mind that on Premium, you can download albums, playlists, and podcasts, but not individual songs. You can download a single episode of a given podcast to listen to it offline, but to download songs, you have to add them to a playlist. You can read more about it in this article. Just to clarify, the feature has always been behaving like this.

That being said, it's expected that you can't be able to download a single song. We'd like you to know another user had a similar suggestion, so they posted this idea about it.  Even though the status is set as Case Closed, it doesn't mean the idea has been rejected. We’d suggest adding your vote  in the thumbs up icon and subscribing to the idea to get notified as soon as we have any updates to share.

If perhaps you can download any content at all, we'd suggest a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device to check if you notice any difference. By doing that the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to any inconveniences. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.

We hope you found this helpful. We're always here to help.
