New AirPods Pro do not connect to call while listening to spotify

My Question or Issue

When I receive and accept a call while listening to music on Spotify with the new AirPods Pro, the music stops but the AirPods do not connect to the call or only do so on one side and the person on the line cannot hear me. I went to the Apple Store with the issue, where we tried this on multiple devices with a different set of AirPods. We faced the same issue in each case. Apple said that this has to do with the Spotify app. Did someone face the same issue and has a solution?

Have you tried testing this with Audio playing from a different app? 

Additionally, have you taken any other steps to troubleshoot this such as deleting/reinstalling Spotify and making sure you are using the latest version of the app and iOS.
