New Release Lightning Bolt Gone

Solved!

New Release Lightning Bolt Gone

A few weeks back I noticed a new lightning bolt icon at the top right corner of my home page on Spotify iOS.

It was great cause it showed the new releases in greater detail than in the release radar.

Instead of a list of songs it showed if there was a full album release or just a single.

It is now gone. I didn’t update the app, and I have auto updates turned off but it disappeared nonetheless. I updated the app through the App Store hoping that would bring it back, sadly it didn’t.

Is there a setting to bring that back? Was it a beta or did they disable it for some reason? It was super helpful! Favourite update they’ve done in a long time and it’s gone.

I’ve got a premium acct running on an iPhone X and I’m located in Canada in case that makes a difference.

Spotify ver. 8.4.79.933

Thanks!

Hey @cp___32, welcome to the Community.

Hope you are doing great!

At Spotify, possible improvements and new features are often being tested. This means you might see something on the app your friend doesn't, or get a brand new feature for only a temporary period.

Things tested could include the next generation of security protection, or new ways to listen. It's also a way for Spotify to introduce new features, and fine-tune the app to be compatible with specific devices.

Have a nice day! 🙂

I want that thing back. It was the best feature released since i use Spotify.

You Never ever miss a release from your followed artists weeks or even month back.

Release radar is fine. But that thing was a thousand times better.

It was very useful and i‘m totally disapointed that it‘s gone.

If you're not a Spotify employee, why are you giving vague answers like a corporate employee???

In my opinion, The lightening bolt feature was the best feature I’ve used on Spotify. I reaaaalllllyyyyy hope it comes back in some manner. The way it suggested favorite bands and the timeline feature that informed about new releases kept me much more engaged in using the app. It was super useful,  because as we all know it’s humanly impossible to keep checking all your favorite bands pages for new releases. Anyways, I really hope that feature comes back, cause the Discover feature just doesn’t compare.
