My Question or Issue

Hi to anyone reading this, I couldn't for the life of me find how to make this post. Anyways, my problem has to do with syncing the local files on my iPhone 12 from my computer. I got this new phone recently and it can find the computer as its own device to play spotify, but I cannot for the life of me get this to work. I have changed the settings to allow local files, I've tried on two different wifi sources at my college and my new phone still cannot find my computer to sync local files, even when plugged into the computer itself. I just reinstalled the spotify app and nothing helped. I also don't have a hotspot on my phone plan, so I haven't been able to use the method of the computer finding the phone with the hotspot to work.

Any information would be appreciated. This is the biggest reason I pay for spotify  and I want to just listen to my music.

Hi there @InternetRookie5,

Thank you for taking time to write in the Community. We're sorry that you haven't been able to sync your local files to your iPhone. We're here to help!

Can you confirm if your phone been connected to your Wi-Fi when you've been trying to find it? If it hasn't we suggest that you connect it to your Wi-Fi and try again.

We can also see that you've been reinstalling the app. However, can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your device, so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it since the steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Hopefully the suggestions above will help you out. If not, we're always one reply away.

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hi Jeremy,

I have followed all of the instructions in the link you sent me before when I deleted my phone so don't worry about that being the issue. Yes, I made sure my phone and computer were connected to the same wifi, I even tried a different school wifi and it still did not work. Any other suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Hey @InternetRookie5,

Thanks for the post.

Can you make sure that the the setting Local Files is enabled on your phone from the Spotify in app settings. This can get turned off when reinstalling the app.

Once that is done and you've added some of your local files to a playlist, can you tell us how that playlist appears on your phone? Do you see the songs grayed out or not at all.

Keep us posted.
