Offline Devices Limit Trouble

Solved!

Offline Devices Limit Trouble

I have frequently been getting the message about more than three offline devices and have had to constantly resync my phone. Is there anyway I can have all my devices de-synced, so I can start off with just my current phone? Thanks

The issue with people getting the message that they've synced tracks to too many devices without them having done so has been fixed with the most recent update 0.5.0.1651.

This message was displayed when the application thought this was the case, but what happened was that the OS removed all cache on the device that "shouldn't be there", we've changed so that the OS now knows that synced tracks should never be removed when the OS performs the cleaning of the device cache.

I've noted your request on a view to see which devices that your account has currently synced tracks to 🙂 If it's a feature many feel that they need, we might implement it.

IM RIGHT THERE WITH YOU!! I can get songs to sync to my device, just after some app downtime and coming back in, the app complains of my account being connected of too many devices- VERY FRUSTRATING as its only connected to my Mac and iPhone.... If there is a solution pleaselet me know!!! 🙂

I have EXACTLY the same issue. I have a feeling that I may have selected to play in offline mode on 3-4 devices at the start without realising the limit. Now whenever I load Spotify on my laptop, then open my phone app, the phone app promts me that I've reached the limit of offline playlists so deletes ALL my music. It's extremeley frustrating.

On top of that, you have to leave your phone unlocked to get all your music again because it pauses everytime the screen goes off.

We need a device management screen like on Sky Go so you can see what you have registered.

Same issue here. I think it would be better if the user was asked to confirm when starting to use offline lists on a 4th device, with a list of devices that you're already using offline lists on. I only use offline lists on my iPhone, but often get the message that I've exceeded the limit and I have to resync all the lists. And of course it always happens when I'm about to board a long flight or traveling without access to the Internet. it's very frustrating.

Hello,

In order to reset the devices connected to your account, you can get in touch with us to do that. Click on "About us" above and then select "contact form".

In regards to tracks resyncing, ensure you have the latest version of Spotify installed on your iOS device - this should resolve this issue, as well as adding Gapless Playback and Crossfade functionality.

David, I cannot see how can you believe that an ad-hoc admin ticket to reset the allowed offline devices can be an acceptable solution. Spotify is sorely missing an area where to control the list of allowed offline devices. Even apple does something int those lines for the 5allowed devices. This is really bringing a lot of grief to many of the more mature users. Maybe this problem is not really been faced that much in the newly deployed countries, but in sweden I have heard plenty of complaints about this. The most usual scenario amongst colleagues is going for a few km run in stockholm and getting the full spotify account emptied when hitting the road... I cant explain how ridiculously frustrating this is... 12km in silence. I rest my case.

Being able to manage the devices like I could do in Napster would definitely be a good thing. Please advise where such a feature can be voted for.

Thanks,

Karin

Hey Karin,

Try on our ideas board, right here.

Airhorn Enthusiast

I got this same error message today, despite having version 0.5.2.374.

I only have offline playlists on my iphone and personal computer. I listen on a work computer but have no offline playlists there.

Needless to say the offline playlists are gone and will have to resync.

Unrelated note that I will randomly lose synced tracks and they will have to be resynced.

KyleG - It looks as if there were more devices in your account than you thought here. Not to worry, I can clear them if you'd like, so you can start afresh. You would need to re-sync, however. Would you like me to do so?

Who's your Spotify Star?

Hey Sam. That would be swell. Can you rest all the devices then and I will resync later.

Odd that it shows more devices. Oh well.

Thanks again!!

Hey KyleG -  I've just removed all those devices for you.

I also recommend doing a clean reinstall on your desktop and your devices before syncing again. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

Thanks Meredith!

Everything is syncing up now without issue.

Thanks again!!!!!

Hi !

I just got this trouble on my "new" iPhone. I dropped my old one and maybe someone found it, but I dont think they had any use of my account, since they would have to restore the iOS to get it to work. I also change all my passwords.

I have looked for a place where I can view my devices, but cant find that. Is it possible to see all my devices ?

It would be great to have a place where I could authorize my diffrent devices.

I have my desktop, a laptop and one iPhone.

How many devices can you see for my account ?

Kind Regards

Jens

Hi Mr_dOhC - I can only see two devices linked to your account: a computer and an iPhone.

I'd be happy to remove those so you can start again.  You'll just need to sync your playlists again. How does that sound?

Hello,

Could you check my account as well? Soon leaving for holiday but have trouble with the 3 device limit for offline devices.  We have changed some units the last year.

/E

Ok, thx for the info !

If there are only two devices I dont need to remove them.

I resynced my iPhone when I got the "3 device limit" messege.

I havent had any more problems, I will get back to you ifI have.

Thx for the help !

Regards

Jens

Hi ebbaasterix - Your Premium account currently has just one iPhone registered. I'm happy to clear your devices again anyway--sometimes starting fresh helps.

You'll just need to resync your offline devices again and update your apps. Just give me the thumbs up to go ahead.

So there is a limit on Spotify on how many devices you can use in offline mode? So I can't use my PC, iPad, iPhone and iPod touch all with offline mode, without getting two accounts?
