Offline downloads are unbearably slow on iOS

My Question or Issue

I have noticed that the download speed for offline listening is incredibly slow. I have about 4000 offline songs and it takes 2-3 hours to download everything if my phone doesn't sleep. That's right, the app needs to be in the foreground and the screen on, otherwise it's even slower.

How is that acceptable performance for a paid Premium user?

Either support offline listening or don't but please don't subject us to this frustratingly slow process!

I get that this is a very frustrating experience and suffer from it myself as well. However, unfortunately this isn't something that is in Spotify's control. The speed when the app is open is dictated by your internet speed (as well as some occasional phone throttling). However, when the phone goes to sleep or the app is in the background (not actively showing), iOS limits the speed at which apps are able to work at. This is done by Apple to help preserve battery life etc. and there is unfortunately not anything that can be done about it.
