PC Local Files not showing album art only on iPhone (believe it's .m4a)

Solved!

PC Local Files not showing album art only on iPhone (believe it's .m4a)

So I have added 3 albums to my local pc with album art. One of them was orignally .m4a while the other two were .FLAC. I knew FLAC wasn't supported so I converted the files to .m4a 320kbps since Spotify says they can take them. However, my iPhone 15+ will not display the album art. My Galaxy S21 (Android) does, as does my PC (confirmed the art is on each song, not just the album). I believe this is because of .m4a, and for whatever reason the iPhone cannot show album art. I have probably around 50 other albums, and if they're in .mp3 the art will show in iOS, but I noticed that a couple of past albums are in .m4a and they don't show art as well. I haven't seen a fix listed anywhere.

I converted the files from .m4a to .mp3 and it seemed to fix the issue of album art not showing on iOS. Why it shows on Android and not iOS, I don't know. This should be fixed (but probably won't seeing as it's been an issue for awhile). Spotify clearly can show .m4a metadata on Android, these shouldn't be on different builds.

Here are some photos showing what I mean. The art is applied to each song, but only iPhone doesn't display the artwork, even when downloaded, even in the "Local Files" folder on the app. If anyone has a better solution than "converting to .mp3" I would appreciate it.

Hey @SideJoe,

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about your experience.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done and are happy to hear that you figured out a solution to your situation. We also realize that this might've been a hassle to take care of as indeed Spotify is built differently for different Operating Systems. Simply put, Spotify is intended to work the same on different OS' but due to device specifics its possible for certain features and the way they work to be constructed (coded) differently.

Hope this helped out.

Cheers.

My Question or Issue

Hello,

I recently put some local files on my phone and used AutoTagger to edit the data on the songs.

All the songs show their respective album covers in the track listing, but when I select a track to play, the cover disappears.

Is there a solution for this?
