Shuffle play always starts with the same song

My Question or Issue

Every time I select Shuffle Play it plays Martha My Dear by the Beatles, which is on a playlist of over 2 thousand songs. It has done for years. The only way I can get a properly shuffled play is if I select a song to start off with myself. Even then it will play songs that I have heard recently in the order that they played. So then I have to start the Desktop computer (Windows 10) and select the songs that I want to hear out of the queue. It drives me batty. What is so hard about getting a proper randomiser? It is elementary computing ffs.

Double check that there isn't and availible update for your version of ios (I suspect that this may be an outdated version as the layout has changed).It has been noticed that spotify connect devices (depending on the manufacturer) only recieve the first 50-100 songs of the playlist to eliminate excessive traffic. It could, however, be as simple as uninstalling and reinstalling the spotify app on your device!
