Song playing on different device

Song playing on different device

I don't have the spotify app on my phone, so when I click on a link to a spotify song it opens in Safari and gives me the option to listen to a song for a few seconds, then suggests I download the app to listen to the whole thing.

However, a couple of times when I have clicked a link to a spotify track on MY phone, it opens the song in a Safari link but then the song plays on my girlfriends phone! She is in the same house on the same wifi as me, but we have never signed into each other's accounts before.

Has this happened to anyone else? Can anybody advise why links I click on my phone are opening on her spotify on her phone?

Thanks

Hey @Rolo888! Welcome to the Community!

Can you please check if your logged account on your Safari browser on your phone isn't your girlfriend's Spotify account?
That's possible you're trying to listen to music using Spotify on Safari with your girlfriend's account logged in, that's why when you play any song there, the Spotify will sync the now playing songs on any device compatible with Spotify Connect.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Mateus.

Hi Mateus

Thanks for your reply. This is not what happened however. I have never signed into my girlfiend's spotify on any device, including the safari in question. I did double check at the time and as I say, I was not signed in to any account on my device.

Any ideas?

Hi, again @Rolo888! Thanks for getting back to us!

To ensure nothing may be causing issues like these related to your girlfriend's account anymore, you can try to sign out everywhere.

Go to your girlfriend's account settings here, you can see an option down below:  "Sign out everywhere".

This logs you out of Spotify everywhere you’re logged in, including the mobile, tablet, web player, and desktop apps. This doesn't include partner devices (e.g. speakers, games consoles, and TVs), so for those go to your apps page and choose REMOVE ACCESS.

Note: It can take up to 1 hour for sign-out to take effect on the web player.

After you follow these steps above, can you still reproduce the same behavior?

I'll be on the lookout for your reply!

Have a great Saturday! 😄
