My Question or Issue
since the newest app update on, I want to say Sunday, my Spotify has become basically unusable on iOS.
Clicking on a song on my phone doesn’t play the song. It just stops playing whatever I was already listening to. Then I have to click it again and even then it sometimes won’t play. I’ve had to start hitting Shuffle All on an album just to get it to start playing. Some songs in my library just straight up won’t play for some reason as well.
Something else i noticed is that even though all my music has been downloaded for offline use (because my streaming/cell service is trash) when I click on an album the app still tries to access the internet to take me to the album page rather than the localized version that is had in previous builds of the app. So what’s the point of having my music available offline if you’re still going to try to get online to take me to the album??
I’m just wondering if anyone else is having these problems with the newest update, I tried talking to a Spotify rep yesterday in the chat and they did not understand what my issues were
Yeah ive got the Same Problem its annoying as **bleep** 😕
Hi there!
I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.
If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?
I'll see what I can suggest next!
Just did both of those steps and neither fixed the issue. I see my iOS has an update to 12.2 so I'll do that as soon as I'm on WiFi and see if that helps, currently on 12.1.4 and running Spotify 8.5.0.833
Updated my iOS and still didn't fix the issue! I attached a screen capture - you can see the app takes a second to load my offline music, because it's trying to connect to the internet (... that's not offline then buddy).
Then the track I'm listening to stops playing as soon as I click on a new song, but that song doesn't start playing and in the video you can't see it obviously but I'm frantically clicking on every song in the list with zero results. The only way I can get an album to play is to click shuffle at the top.
Again I'm on iOS 12.2 now and Spotify 8.5.0.833
Hey @o_vme-54oc12,
Could you check if the same thing happens when you're not using the battery saver?
Let me know how that goes 🙂
I have literally never used the battery saver lol
Edit- whoops sorry you weren't replying to me
Hey @hefightabear,
That's fine 🙂
Could you try this in offline mode as well as on wifi to see if the issue persists?
Could you check it with another Spotify account in this device?
Also, if possible, could you check it with this Spotify account on another iOS device?
Please let me know 🙂
Going into offline mode definitely fixes the "song stopping when I click a new one" issue and just plays the song like normal. I have decent cell service right now so it's not taking forever to load my albums, but when I'm in offline mode the load immediately so that's good. Not huge on the idea of having to be in offline mode all the time though.
I'll try the different sign ins / devices when I'm able and let you know how those turn out
Hey @hefightabear,
Could you also try to clear all offline devices listed here? After removing the listed offline devices and could you try a quick reinstall one last time to see if that helps?
Also, does the issue persist when connected on a different connection, for example WiFi?
Thanks 🙂
