Spotify drains iPhone 7 battery

Spotify drains iPhone 7 battery

I recently switched to Spotify from Apple Music. Apple Music used less than 5% of my battery, Spotify however is using 20%+ and my battery is not lasting long at all with it. Any suggestions?

Hey Mattstawinski!

I would suggest a few things, #1, make sure it's actually Spotify that's draining it. By going to Settings > Battery, you can check the battery usage percentage for the last 24 hours and the last week. If you're seeing that Reddit, or YouTube, or some other app uses more, make sure you don't have those open while running Spotify.

A common problem a lot of people run into is that they don't close (swipe-up) on the apps they aren't using. This keeps them running, much like windows/tabs in a browser on desktop. If this doesn't help, then keep reading.

The other solution could be to download your playlists and running Spotify offline. In the mobile app,

- Go to ' Your Library '

- Click the gear in the top right

- go to ' Playback '

- Click the box to the right of ' Offline '

Streaming anything will drain battery rather quickly, so this could be a quick solution. Also, only downloading playlists over Wifi will reduce battery consumption as well. That can be found in Settings > Music Quality > Download Using Cellular (off).

I hope this helped, and if it did, be sure to mark it as the solution! Otherwise make sure to give this reply a like if it helped in any way! Good luck!
