In my new car I can connect my iphone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 so I can play all the songs that are in my music app.
Now when I start spotify I can only play te first song and after that the car stereo automatically switches to de default music app!
Is their a way I can fix it? Or will this be fixed in a future update of the Spotify ios app?
I really love Spotify but if I can't use it properly in my car I see no point of paying the monthly € 10 subscription.
Thank you in advance!
Do you know how this connection works? It could be an issue with the system in use itself 🙂
Liam
It's an Opel Astra with an cd900 navigation/multimedia system build in.
I can connect it via the 30 pin connector from an iphone. Than the iphone thinks it's connected to a docking station.
Can someone please help me?
Spotify doesn't currently support playing via USB connection and there are also compatibility problems connecting devices directly into docking stations -- I have one at home that works when it wants to but sometimes just cuts out. There's no way around it unfortunately.
It might be worth checking out in-car Parrot devices, some of which have a Spotify app made for them. Details here.
When will the usb connection support be added to the spotify app? Can we somehow download a beta perhaps?
If your phone is jailbroken, there is a tweak that lets you set Spotify as your default music player. I have it and it works. That might solve your issue.
I have about the same problem as you,I use a iPhone 5, and when I connect the phone to my cd player thru usb I get no usb connection when using spotify, when I switch to iTunes i plays perfectly, so there is no usb connection trouble, I belive the problem lies in the spotify softwear, I can avoid the problem with connectin the aux cable, but I need to charge my phone while playing music so the usb connection is the ultimate solution, If this cant be fixed I neither see why I should be continuing paying monthly for spotify, then I rather use iTunes insted, but I really prefer spotify insted, so I hope someone can help me/us out with the problen!
As it currently stands, Spotify do not officially support USB or bluetooth connections for streaming to other devices which does make support a little tricky (apart from compatibility with Ford AppLink).
There are several feature request topics over on the ideas exchange about this topic, such as this one if you want to add your voice to those to show support.

Have not problems using Bluetooth audio with Opel Intellilink. Playlists however not available for browsing from the car infotainment system over Bluetooth. Sometimes the Bluetooth connection is capable of transmitting track info to the car system. Sometimes not.
No passthrough when phone connected via USB.
What is needed is playlist transfer via bluetooth as well as playback via USb.
