Spotify loads slowly 2.0 / goes unresponsive on iOS

On March 15, 2023 Yordan from Spotify posted this and it is still happening to me and has been ever since then. [Premium / USA / iPhone 11 / iOS 16.6] I've cleared the cache. I've turned off and rebooted. I've uninstalled and reinstalled...to no avail. Please help.

 

Still not resolved for me. Its making me go a little crazy. I can barely use the app, and I use it every day. It's much worse when my iPhone is on low power mode, which I have to have on sometimes because iPhone's batteries are terrible and this phone that is only a few years old is already draining like crazy.

"We've received reports from iPhone users saying the app is taking up to a few minutes to load before either being partially usable or simply crashing. Sometimes the playlist/album covers won't load at all and are unclickable. This behavior is currently being investigated.

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on the aforementioned iPhone?
  • Is the behaviour the same across different networks?
  • The exact Spotify Versions you use.
  • Does the behaviour occur evenly everywhere in the app?
  • Could you possibly log in with your account on a different iOS device and see if the issue perists?

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Hello Joan, 

Thanks for the reply. The problem persists after multiple version updates of both the iPhone OS and Spotify.

 

  • It's only on the aforementioned iPhone.
  • Yes, the behaviour is the same across different networks.
  • I'm currently using 8.8.75.709 Spotify Version and have autoupdate on.
  • The behaviour occurs evenly everywhere in the app?
  • I cannot log in with my account on a different iOS device to see if the issue persists.

Thanks for getting back to us. 

 

Could you try logging out and then logging back in to your account twice in a row to see if that makes the difference? This will trigger a sync between your account and iPhone. 

 

If the issue persists, you mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?


If this doesn't do the trick either, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to check if they can replicate this behavior with their account? This will help us determine if the issue is account-related.
