Spotify search not finding items not available through Spotify

before the search function changed on the iPhone app, I was able to search all the songs I have uploaded onto my phone, including ones that are not in Spotify's database.  Now, I no longer can.

For example, I have a lot of Beatles songs that I've uploaded to my phone, songs that I can play in Spotify. But if i go to search and type in "the Beatles", it only gives me Beatles songs that are available through Spotify, which aren't many. 

I tried looking through the community here to see if this is something that's affecting anyone else, but I'm not sure if I'm explaining it correctly.  I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.4 and Spotify version 0.9.1.230.

I can confirm that I have the same issue.

I'll escalate this to the staff as a potential bug so it can be fixed.
