Spotify stops playing after connecting

I start Spotify, go to my downloaded playlist, start playing a song and in the mean time the black "connecting" bar appears at the bottom.

But when it connects, spotify stops playing the song and changes the song to the one i played last time i was connected. It doesn't play though, just gets to where i last stopped.

I don't know why this is happening or if it is a feature or not, but this is so annoying. If this is a feature, i would like to know how to disable it. If this is a problem, i need further help. Thanks.
