Starting today anything that I make available offline is only downloading at 96kbps (the lowest setting - "Normal"). I know this because I had to delete the app and redownload it from the App Store this morning and when I downloaded a few albums I noticed it went REALLY fast. I checked in Usage and saw it was using 29mb for a ~35-38 minute album, which is right around what 96kbps would be. I tried a few more and they downloaded equally as fast and the count went up only to around 80mb for 3 full albums.
Before I synced anything offline I changed all of my settings since I was starting fresh - Stream: High, Sync: Extreme. I've deleted the app and redownloaded from the App Store several times now and it is still doing the same thing.
Anyone else having this issue? Could it be my account somehow...? No idea.
I can appreciate that the download speeds are faster, but they can't magically make ~320kbps streams that small.
Yeah unfortunately it does sound worse. With my decent headphones I can hear a difference, especially in the cymbals. Anything 128kbps and below the cymbals are always a big indicator.
I feel like I'm the only one with the issue, so I'll just see if they magically resync with an update at some point.
@danc27 It may be worth trying another reinstall. From what you said, something is very wrong.

I've got the same problem, even after multiple reinstalls. Sync just seems completely broken.
Thank goodness it isn't just me. Well not good that other people have the problem... but yeah.
I just tried reinstalling yet again and no dice. I've brought it up to developers too but not sure if they saw it yet. Spotify effectively sounds horrible on my iPhone now.
I've had this problem for a month, even made a topic here but no one could bother to try to help me, not even staff from spotify..
me too
i have the same problem and it stops in the middle of syncing!
Hopefully this will be sorted soon - I pay for premium and am only getting 96kbps on my phone. It should be noted I have a Nexus 7 as well and it that works fine.
I've been experiencing similar problems with my Spotify iOS app. I have found that the temporary workaround for this is to first uninstall then reinstall the app. After signing in change the Sync quality to Extreme, then back to Normal and tap Extreme again. After you do that you should be prompted that Spotify will remove any offline songs.
Then force quit the app by closing it with the multitask switcher, reopen the app and try syncing again. The songs should then download in the Extreme queality setting.
