So for about a week now, the song I am currently listening to just carries on playing when I swipe down (and use the phone’s built-in music feature to play it from the start. *Whenever I press the rewind button, it just acts as if I haven’t done anything, however decides to work when it feels like it. I know this might sound like something minor (and it is, honestly), but sometimes the smallest of things can become the biggest inconvenience imaginable, considering the fact it was working before the recent update, from what I remember.
*Also, whenever I tap my left AirPod to replay/restart the song, I still run into the same issue.
I too have ran into this issue. It is also now on android and PC too. I very rarely close out of my spotify on PC to update so I just did and I too had this problem. It is for sure a recent update that causes this.
Spotify please acknowledge this. It is happening on both android, windows, and all apple products.
Hey there,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
The most important thing as a start is to make sure you're running a fresh installation of the Spotify app. Could you perform a clean reinstall with the steps described here?
For the iPhone users in the thread, could you also make sure to enable the background refresh for Spotify and turn off potential battery saving modes? Here is how to do that.
@YellowMelon, could you, after a clean reinstall, share some device setup information like brand/model and operating system version of the devices, where you're experiencing this issue? Also tell us the Spotify version installed.
Let us also know, if you've already performed some troubleshooting, so we can avoid repeating the same steps.
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
@Dian,
Troubleshooting steps I have done: Did a clean install of Spotify as directed by your website. This problem is due to an update on Spotify's end. It has been happening for a couple of months now. And it started the second I updated my devices. If you go on the various sub reddit for spotify you have people complaining about this on other platforms too.
Only fix for it is to download older builds from online, so older .apks, or installers for mobile and desktops from march/feb. So it most definitely is a recent update that broke it. Downloading older builds should never be a solution.
I don't have my android and iphone next to me at the moment, but on PC I can tell you that spotify-1-1-84-716.exe onwards is the broken version and that spotify-1-1-80-699.exe is the last version to work.
A quick way to replicate the bug on your end is to pick a song, any song. Let it play for 5-6 seconds( so that when you hit back it has played through enough not to go to the previous song when you hit back). Then click on the back/restart track button, let it play again for 5-6 seconds, and rinse and repeat. After a handful of times, you will encounter the error.
Edit: I don't know how to mention people. So if anyone can be kind enough to let Dian know that would be great.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your replies.
We suggest that you log out everywhere. You'll find this option by scrolling down here. Once you do this, restart the app and check if the issue persists.
On another note, tell us if this is happening with other network such as 4/5G or WiFi.
Lastly, in order to mention a user, just type "@" along with the first 3 letters (only on PC/laptop). However, any moderator will jump once a new message comes up.
We'll stay tuned.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
