Since updating to the version 9.0 application on my iPhone 12, the volume slider has disappeared and is nowhere to be found. The only way I can change the volume is with the left-side buttons on the iPhone. Usually, if I click the device icon, a screen with the volume slider appears on the same screen where I can change my device.
The issue started while on IOS 18.1, I did the update to 18.2, opened Spotify and the volume slider appeared. As soon as I clicked on PLAY, the slider disappeared completely. Does not matter if playing from my iPhone or to my networked streamer. The slider still works from the lock screen which is a workaround but not optimum if browsing music in the app.
I am using Airplay with my stereo system streamer.
Hey there @poilover,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Just to confirm, does the volume slider show up when using Spotify Connect instead of AirPlay? It's worth logging out and signing back in to your account twice in a row - this triggers an internal refresh of the app that may help here.
Let us know how it goes.
Hello. So, I logged out and back in on the iPhone app with the same issue using AirPlay but Connect was working normally, darn it! I tried on an iPad and had the same issue as my phone, so it looks to be an Airplay-Spotify issue. I can still control the volume with the phone buttons but the slider is more precise and was working before this latest update.
Hey @poilover,
Thanks for getting back to us!
Would you mind sending over some screenshots or a video where we can take a better look at this behavior? It'd be very helpful.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Hello again,
So here are two screenshots that display the issue.
1. Open Spotify app on iPhone, tap on the device icon to get this screen with volume slider at bottom
2. Go back to the main Spotify window and press the PLAY function
3. Click on the device icon to get the next window with no volume slider
4. If I stop the music play and repeat steps 1 through 3, there will be no volume slider
5. If I close out of the Spotify app and reopen, the slider will appear once again, until I press PLAY
I hope that helps, I was not able to figure out how to make a screen recording which probably would have been better but I hope this helps, thank you.
Okay, I figured out the screen recording but even going as fast as I could, it is a large file so here is a link to the shared location.
I get the same result even if I AirPlay the music stream to another device. The video was made using my iPhone speaker for playback.
