Volume on phone inherits volume setting from Spotify desktop

Volume on phone inherits volume setting from Spotify desktop

When I play music on the Spotify Windows desktop app, the Spotify app on my phone connects to it and allows me to control the volume of Spotify from my phone. By default this volume is set to the top level. But then also if I open another app on my phone the volume of my phone will be at the same top level. Is this a bug or is there some way to fix this or stop my phone from connecting to the laptop other than making sure to close the Spotify app on my phone when listening on desktop?

Hey there @hanbeep

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.

The behavior you described is expected because of Spotify Connect and currently, there's no way to turn off the volume sync when this feature is on. The only workaround for now is to close the app in the phone to avoid this.

You can try removing some permissions from Spotify in Apple settings. I've turned off bluetooth, local network, media & apple music etc.

It seems to work somewhat until they decide to remove this annoying feature that no one asked for. It shows that the PM's pushing this stuff don't actually use the app as they've never had Spotify connect jumpscare them on an autoplay video on max volume
