Why does my app switches to songs that were last played in the duet account

Why does my app switches to songs that were last played in the duet account

My wife and i have a duet account. she is logged into hers and i am logged into mine. however, many times when i try to play through my account on my phone, it will switch to whatever she last played on hers. I kept on switching to the song i wanted to play but it kept switching back. not that it should ever switch as we are not in the same account but she wasn't even listening to spotify at the time nor was the app open on her phone.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we suggest you access your account page and there you'll have to sign out everywhere, using the button you'll find by scrolling to the bottom of the Account Overview page.

We recommend checking for anything suspicious on your Account Overview page and removing all apps connected to your account. You can easily reconnect the apps that you use whenever you want. If you notice anything suspicious you can remove it with the REMOVE ACCESS button.

It's possible your account is opened on other devices that your wife might use on a daily basis. If you perhaps use a speaker like Google Home or Sonos, keep in mind those devices are linked to just one Spotify account at a time.

Thanks but i don't think this really applies. My wife’s account is linked to mine through the duet package. So her devices aren’t associated with mine. My account will literally switch to what she was last playing even though she’s signed in to her own account that she uses only on her phone. Baffling how this happens.

Hey @notspen,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

As you kindly mentioned, even if you share a Duo plan, your accounts are independent. In that sense, this is odd behavior. That being said, would you mind sending us a video recording of it? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Meanwhile, it might be worth check if perhaps you're logged in in the same account by accident. You can do this by following these steps from your mobile phones:

  1. Go to Home.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. At the top of settings, you can see the email linked to your account (if any) and the plan you're in. Make sure both of you are in your onw accounts.

Lastly, just to confirm, has the app always been behaving like this or does it start to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? Please send us the details about it.
