ios app always freezing

so idk if this is an issue with anyone else but the spotify app on my phone is constantly freezing on me. if i suspend the app for even a second it will freeze and not respond at all. it usually starts responding after a few seconds to a few minutes once it is opened. but if i hit my home/lock button then all bets are off. at this point i am always anticipating that spotify will not work so i will open the app and let my phone sit for a bit before i can use it. 

this is **bleep**ing medieval. i essentially have to let my spotify "warm up" before i can listen to music. i love spotify so much and have never had any issues with it before but once the ios 12 version came out it's become almost unusable. i really don't want to end my spotify subscription(this is not me being manipulative, it is truly how i feel) but i actually use the mobile app a lot and this could be a deal-breaker. please address this issue or let me know if there is a solution. thanks

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?
