local files not showing up

local files not showing up

I have spotify premium

I wanted to upload some local files. It didn't work - here's what I did

ON MY MAC: I downloaded audio files just as .mp3 onto my desktop, loaded them into apple music so I could edit artist/title information. I then took those files, loaded them into a folder, and chose that folder as a source. THIS part succeeded - I was able to now listen to these files on my desktop in spotify (they showed up in local files, i added them to a playlist, etc.)

ON MY IPHONE: I emailed myself the mp3 files I had in that folder (so they're identical to the files i used in the spotify). When I got the email on my phone, I downloaded those files into the "files" app on my phone, in the "on my iphone" section. I then went to spotify, turned on "show local files," gave spotify access to everything it requested.

I then went to the local files folder in the app, and it said there were no files available that were playable. Why do my mp3 files in the "files" app not count as playable files?

Hi there @happybirthdaytodeli,

Thanks for the post.

In order to load the local files onto your phone, you need to follow the steps described in this FAQ, as the process for iOS is a bit more complex than just downloading the files on the phone.

Hope this helps.
