recent bug - no playback when selecting a song from artist page

Solved!

recent bug - no playback when selecting a song from artist page

Device

iPhone SE

Operating System

iOS 17

My Question or Issue

Tapping on a song from an Artist's 'Popular' list does not play it, and additionally stops current playback. The play icon flashes for a fraction of a second every time a song is tapped on and nothing happens.

This occurs only when shuffle is toggled on, and from the Artist's page as shown in the image. Selecting a song to play either from an album or playlist works just fine.

I use Spotify mobile every day, and noticed this began happening only a few nights ago, which would coincide with the recent iOS update to 17.4.1

Hey @RenoOnBD

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

This seems like an annoying little bug, which we weren't able to reproduce on our end. Does this happen on other devices too, could you check to see if you'll experience the same bug.  We'd recommend clearing your cached files, as they might have something to do with this. Also, it's worth mentioning to try on a different network connection.

Let us know how it goes.

I am currently in experiencing the same issue

Hey there @misaelmoct

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community.

Would you mind following the steps @MartinT sent previously to see if they does the trick?

If the issue persists, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Thanks, clearing Spotify cache fixed it. I had reinstalled the app previously but it made no difference, so anyone else dealing with this make sure to clear cache from within the app itself.

Hey @RenoOnBD,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop & for letting us know what worked for you! This may come in handy for other users as well.

Should anything else appears, we're just a post away.

Cheers 🙂
