I generally like Spotify. I'm been on several other music providers before, but there's a better feeling that Spotify are built around serving music, whereas for example Apple or Google play are just pushing whatever data they can.
There's lots of things i would do differently with Spotify, if i had a say, more metadata, an actual 'Play' button in the Android client and so on. But that's not what makes me unhappy, No.
What breaks my **bleep** are that three thirds of the time i can't get the freaking music playing!
I use my Android phone and two Chrome cast audio's (and a TV one) to play music. Often I control it from the desktop client (Ubuntu), as you know Chrome cast doesn't work from the desktop client (**bleep**).
Most of the time i can't connect Spotify to my Chrome casts without force-closing the app first. Then i'll have 'Songs are unavailable', i get random dropouts of the stream and has to force-close the app to reconnect.
Everyday at some point the stream keeps playing and neither the desktop or the phone app has any control over the music, I can't change tune, stop it or adjust the volume. Funny thing is that Google has a notification from it's home app, that actually can do these things totally fine while i have to force-close spotify app (ten times a day) to get it to reconnect. I never have any problems with any other Chrome cast applications, only Spotify.
My only two Spotify friends has left within the last three months finally getting to fed up with these simple connection issues (non-chromecast users).
If i had a feeling that these problems where getting less and getting fixed, then maybe, but it's only getting worse.
So unless some of your have some good advice or I'm simply getting the hole thing wrong, I'll be changeling my subscription and as i hear Google's getting a lot better lately i'm moving it over there.
And while writing this it happends again. Look at the screenshot, Google can control the Spotify stream but the Spotify app has lost the connection. I press the app, it opens and pressing play it returns "This Song is not available". Again i have to kill it and hope it can reestablish connection.
I'm not going on to pay almost $15 a month with these simple problems not getting fixed.
