I am running Spotify on a Galaxy S6. The app is version 8.4.3.479 armv7. I'm paying for Spotify Premium.
At home I gave two Google Home devices and one Googlecast Audio. Until about two months ago Spotify (on the S6) was fairly reliable in always showing those three devices (plus a couple of configured combinations of them) in the "devices available" menu.
This is no longer true. In fact, most of the time the phone shows either no devices or it shows a PC on which I also run spotify. Sometimes (alignment of stars, solar flares, who knows) all the devices show up and I can once again play music from my phone. This is very rare, though. I have not found that any combination of reboots (the phone, the google homes, the googlecast) helps.
The Google Homes are almost always able to cast to the Googlecast Audio and let me play spotify that way. So I don't think it's that the devices are not discoverable. And when I *do* that, the phone app immediately sees it and offers to let me keep casting or to play locally. But if I try to play a new song in the phone app (while still casting to one of those devices I can't usually see) the app gets seriously horked and loses touch with reality. The pause/play button works, but otherwise it seems to just keep playing whatever the Google Home started to play.
This is horribly frustrating. Google Home can play Spotify, but it's a pretty lousy way to control media. I really, really want the Spotify App to start working again for this. Ideas? I'll collect logs, try things, etc.
