I have a Nokia 2 phone running Android 7.1.1 (although this problem has persisted in previous versions). Whenever I run Spotify, the current song will stop playing after a few minutes. The app won't crash - it'll just stop playing. This problem appears similar to this issue on Samsung phones. In fact, I'm fairly certain that it is an issue with the battery saving features, as I'm able to keep the song playing by staying in the Spotify app and occasionally touching the screen (in other words, the phone appears to be incorrectly judging the app to not be in use if I don't repeatedly touch the screen, and then closes it). I have disabled battery optimization features for Spotify by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization > Spotify > "Don't optimize." "Battery saver" mode is also disabled. However, the problem persists. Is there any known fix for this?
