Pixel 2XL and desktop with Windows 10

My Question or Issue

When connected to my desktop (listening on computer/controlling through phone) I can no longer select songs to play from my "Liked Songs" playlist through the phone app. It seems to be registering my input (ie: I get the visual feedback of the song greying out momentarily when I click on it) but it will not play that song. "Liked Songs" is the only place I have this issue. I've removed and reinstalled on both my computer and phone, not sure what else to try.

I tend to use this playlist more than anything and loved being able to change music through my phone since I'm mostly using fullscreen programs when on my computer. Tabbing out to change songs through the desktop app is kind of a pain.
