Metadata Support for Bluetooth Enabled Head Unit (automotive)

Hello,

I did a forum search and my problem has been posted a few times before.  However, it doesn't appear as though the  problem has been resolved.

I'm using Spotify on a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.2 stock.  My car has a JVC KDX50BT (Bluetooth enabled) headunit.

The phone pairs with the headunit without a hitch.  Now, I can stream from my phone to the headunit via Bluetooth from Google Music, Spotify and Pandora.  The difference is that song information is not displayed when I'm using the Spotify app.  I get song titles for both Google Music and Pandora without having to adjust any settings.  Also for some reason, if I choose to use Spotify, I need to have a song/playlist playing BEFORE it pairs with the JVC unit otherwise it won't recognize that the device is playing music.

For example, if I start up my car and the headunit automatically pairs with my phone then I choose a song/playlist to play, there is just overall technological confusion.  Music starts playing from my speakers but the display on my headunit reads "Pause" when normally it would display either the song title, time of day, or track number.

Does anyone know what the issue is?  Perhaps a Spotify-Bluetooth streaming app?

This is the reason why I've actually cancelled by Spotify subscription.  I'm in my car enough where this in a hindrance but  I'd really like to get Spotify functioning properly because Google Music makes me want to dig my eyes out with a spoon.

Thank you all in advance for any advice/help offered.
