Playback pauses on all other devices as soon as iPhone app is open

My Question or Issue

When playing music from any of my device (including CarPlay), if the iOS app is running on my phone (even if in background), the playback pauses or is muted. Either way, can't resume playback on any device until I force kill the iOS app on my iPhone.

 

I did try to log off from every device (including iPhone), clean re-installed the app, cleared the cache and rebooted the devices.

 

This was working properly a while ago. I didn't use the app for a while as I did cancel my premium subscription (last February) and just re-enabled it. The app has always been installed and updated.
