Spotify has been listed put on the Dirty Dozen List of businesses profiting off sexual exploitation year. The App can be used to transfer pornography to minors. Harmful content - including that which normalizes sexual violence, child sexual abuse, and incest can be easily found on Spotify in the form of thumbnails graphically depicting sexual activity and nudity, as well as ‘audio pornography’ (recordings of **bleep** sounds or sexually explicit stories read aloud). In addition to this, there has been a high-profile case of a child who was groomed and exploited through Spotify by predators who communicate with children by editing playlist titles, and asking children to upload sexually explicit material of themselves as thumbnails.
My idea is simple. Spotify should stop profiting from - & facilitating - child sexual exploitation and abuse material on its site immediately, by enforcing age verification and other measures which protect children.
