[Announcement] Widespread login problems (Friday, June 1st)

I have just heard that a widespread problem has appeared. This isn't good news at all, particularly as Friday evening is rapidly approaching. Although the problem doesn't seem to be affecting all Spotify customers, the very great number who are affected may have problems including these:

 

  • Unable to login in Spotify clients, leading to being stuck in offline mode.
  • Unable to login to their account at the website, or to change subscription.

What you can do

 

In the meantime, we wouldn't want to inconvenience you further. Since the problem is with our servers, there is no need to try anything to resolve the problem yourself.

 

The best thing to do might be to keep Spotify open, even if it is offline. As the problem is resolved, Spotify should reconnect and go online - in fact, this has just happened to me as I write.

Reports from the technical teams suggest that the service is progressively recovering - particularly in the US and Scandinavia.

 

My application reconnected a while ago. I handful of offline synched tracks desynched shortly afterwards, but I'm not sure whether they actually needed to be resynched, or whether their status was simply corrected again.
