Can't log in or play with data

Can't log in or play with data

In the past, I had premium for a few months but ended up unsubscribing because I could not play in downloaded music unless I was connected to wifi (ie not on mobile data) so felt it was a waste of money.

I have just deactivated premium, and now I'm for some reason unable to log into the app through Facebook. I click the link but it does not load, and if I click again it says I have 'already authorised Spotify'. I have tried updating OS, uninstalling and reinstalling both Spotify and Facebook, and removing Spotify from my Facebook app settings to no avail. Please help, otherwise my subscription is useless yet again! Also would like some guidance re how to make music play using phone data alone. Thanks in advance

Hello!

I am sorry to hear this!

Just to clarify, when it comes to downloading music. There is a disabled option in Settings that says "Download using cellular". You had to activate that to download music while in Mobile Data. If you want to stream music you should be able to do so unless you restricted mobile data access to Spotify app.

Are you sure you deactivated premium and not your account? Try accessing to your account with Spotify Client or Web Player to see if anything changes. If it does, then it's probably something in your phone. Try clearing cache on both Spotify and Facebook apps. By the way, what is your phone model and OS?

Have you tried signing up with your facebook account to verify you haven't disabled your Spotify?

I am not that into Accounts/Spotify-Facebook so I can't really help any further than simple clear data and cache off your cellphone. Hopefully someone else in the community will.

Good luck ;(

I was able to log into spotify when I used Wifi rather than mobile data, so that issue is sorted, however my phone still says it is "offline" when on phone data, even though offline mode is turned off in the spotify app setting and all other internet-requiring apps work (i.e. the problem isn't with my data being turned off etc). This means that I cannot stream music unless I am connected to wifi. I can still listen to music I have downloaded, but I chose to get spotify as I don't have much space on my phone and lots of data! Thanks for your reply anyway

What carrier do you have? I heard a while back that T-Mobile and other carriers had IPv6 on APN!

Please verify in Settings>Mobile data>Access Point Names>[insert carrier name here]>APN Protocol and make sure the selection is IPv4/IPv6 and not only IPv6!

If it is in fact IPv6 but you can't change it, try creating a new APN but with the IPv4/IPv6 option (copy paste the rest of settings) and then activate it. If it insists on the original one, you have to call your carrier support.

Have you 100% verified that you made a clean reinstall of Spotify?

If not sure, follow these steps:

  1. From the Android home screen, tap Settings > Apps.
  2. Find Spotify in your list of apps, tap it. For older Android devices, navigate to Settings > Applications > Manage applications.
  3. Tap Clear Data. If you're using Android 6.0+, tap Storage > Clear Data
  4. Tap Uninstall.
For a clean reinstall, go to Storage > Android > Data and delete a folder called com.spotify.mobile.android.ui
  5. Open Google Play then search for and install the Spotify Music app.

Check Spotify settings to make sure you are not on Offline Mode when using 2G/3G/4G/LTE and remember to make sure you have enabled "Download using cellular" to download music! My suggestion is to keep "Streaming" on "Automatic Quality" so it can adapt to your internet speed.

Also, do you have Unlimited Internet plan? Or you have any limitation? Please consider that some carriers may try limiting your speed causing some apps (like Spotify) unable to receive and send packages at the desired speed which will most likely ends in Offline due to it.

Hope you can fix it! Good luck 😉
