Can't use my own email address because of bad account creation

Can't use my own email address because of bad account creation

I picked a poor day to create an account on Spotify a few months back.  Unknown to me at the time, the site was having issues.  To make matters worse, I accidently added an extra "l" onto my gmail.com email address. 

 

I can't stress how moronic it is that you don't have to confirm your email address.  Every major website in existence requires this to be confirmed in a second field.

 

 

So I created one account and couldn't login (because of the website issues on that partcular day).  I created a second account, using my same email address, and Spotify allowed me to do so.  At this point I assumed the first account was never even created.  

 

I was wrong.  The first account was created with the extra 'l' in gmail, and the second account had my correctly spelled email.  Ironically, because of the issues of that particular day, the second account I created did get deleted for some reason the following day.

 

This has created an annoying situation where if I try to correct my email on my first account, it claims the corrected email address is being used by another account.  BUT, if I try to do an account recovery on the correct email address, it tells me no account exists with that email address.

 

I would be a paying customer today if this was resolved.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

You will need to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to look into this a little further for you.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yeah see... I tried that, but the form automatically fills in MY INCORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS.

 

So I never get anything back.  I sent a request to that when it first happened hoping maybe someone would read it and deduce what was going on, but apparently not.

Ah, I see. Try using this form which should not require you to login and insert your actual email address!
