Do I have to "de-authorise" an account before reformatting?

Solved!

Do I have to "de-authorise" an account before reformatting?

I'm away to reformat the hard disk of my macbook.  I'm a premium customer and I use Spotify on my macbook and ipod touch.

I was advised to "de-athorise" itunes before reformatting otherwise it causes problems with the number of devices allowed.  Is this the case with Spotify?  And in any event, is there a limit on devices I can use?  Thanks.

Spotify's device limit is for offline playlists only - if you don't touch the offline playlists feature you can use spotify on any device you want without worry. But for offline playlists, you can have offline playlists on up to 3 devices at once.

If you have offline playlists on your macbook, your macbook will be seen as a new device when you wipe your data. If you only use your macbook and ipod touch, your macbook will now be a third device.

There's no immediate effect, but when you start syncing offline playlists on a 4th device, it will automatically deauthorise device number one (the one where you synced offline playlists first).

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know.
