I have been hacked and all my playlists where deleted.

Solved!

I have been hacked and all my playlists where deleted.

1. I recognized a breach at my account when all my playlists where missing and an alien list was recently played from my account. After fast passwordreset at bot spotify, the linked facebookaccount and the gmail in use i realise that all playlists is gone. ALL of them. I have spent substantial time finding, sorting and gathering music from all of my memory lanes and the recoverfunction you have can only recover minor portion of them.

2. I have screenshotted the information about the two persons that had added to my family plan. What will you do to track them down and make sure they wont get access to spotify again? Or rather, what will you do to help me enforce swedish law in this case?
A search at "haveIBeenPawned" shows that my account is mentioned in a pastebin wich is now of course deleted.

3. The fact that i had to spend 30 minutes before i realize its impossible to contact you without doing an open case like this is humiliating. If I dont even have my old playlists anymore i kinda lost the incitament to stay as customer. Im upset. Mainly at the breach, but also because you have built a system to keep me as long away from you as possible when i for the first time as i became full paying customer plenty years ago, cant get any support whatsoever..

Hi Franq, sorry to hear about this, definitely realize how bad this feels. I've had breaches into my accounts in the not so distant past and know how frustrating the whole thing can be. Not sure which recovery function you used but this is what I did (pretty much seems like what you'll hear from the support folks):

(quicklink : Recover Playlists)

Log into your account on the Spotify Homepage, click the dropdown menu on your username and click the "Account" tab. Once you're on your account overview, you'll see a list of tabs on the lefthand side. You'll be looking for the one that says "Recover playlists". All the playlists that have been deleted from your account should be there. Click "Restore" next to the playlists you want back on your spotify!

I, personally, don't know anything about the Swedish law side of the equation. Coming from someone to who has been through this, I'm not sure you'll get a great deal of security from any tech company - spotify included. Hunting down internet trolls isn't their deal y'know? It feels silly but I feel like the best thing to do, which you've probably already done, is change your password/username, grab some security software for your computer (if you don't have some already), and just hope for the best. I did that a few months back and haven't had a problem since.

I definitely know how frustrating and embarrassing the whole situation can be, truly, but I wouldn't blame it on spotify necassarily. The internet is a spooky-**bleep** place and it just as easily could have happened to your apple music, soundcloud, or bandcamp account. If you've liked spotify in the past, I think you should keep using them! If it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth, I've really enjoyed my time using apple music and soundcloud too.

Hope that helps+hope you'll get back to jamming real soon!
