Local Files Illegal?

Solved!

Local Files Illegal?

Hey, I just bought this new album that just got released since it's not on Spotify and I think it's great. So now it's in local files. I know I have the ability to move local files into public playlists, but is that legal? I'll be promoting and spreading music to people who are not specifically paying for the support of that album just to listen for free.

So comes the question, is it legal at all to move local files that don't have an agreement with Spotify into public playlists?

Hey there @llfeguard, welcome to the community!

You can definitely add your local files to any of your playlists whether they be private or public. Now other users that access your playlist will not be able to play the song, unless they also have the song as a local file. Your local files don't get uploaded to Spotify's servers, only the metadata (track name, length, etc.) does.
