Login Error: “Login and Password do not match”

Login Error: “Login and Password do not match”

I keep getting this error code thrown at me when I try to login to my artist account on my phone and computer. I made the account and successfully got in at first, but when I tried to log back in this happened. When I ask for a password reset it tells me my username is some random collection of letters, so I’m wondering if I have a duplicate account? I’m not sure how to resolve this. I tried logging in with Flux Psyche (my artist name) as the username and my correct password but that didn’t work either.

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

 

It'd be great for you to take a look here if you'd like to double-check how many accounts you have. This should help you retrieve your Spotify for Artists credentials and eventually close the "extra" account(s).

I deleted the account that I found attached to the email in question, because it had random letters and numbers as my username and it was not an artist account, as far as I could tell. It said it was a free account. 

However, this did not resolve my issue. Now when I try to login as an artist, it says there are no active accounts under my email. I’m really stumped and I have no idea what happened. I’d appreciate any more help you can give. (By the way, I am now logged in here from my own personal Spotify premium account).

You cannot change those jumble of letters and stuff as far as I know.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Keep in mind that all accounts now have an automatically generated username, consisting of letters and numbers. This is due to security reasons.

You can however add or change a display name at any time that replaces the username where it shows on your profile, app, playlists, and Friend Activity. You can find out more about this feature in this support article. Note that it's not possible to log in with your display name. This might explain why you couldn't log in with Flux Psyche. 

 

If you suspect it's possible that you accidentally closed the wrong account, we recommend that you get in touch with out Customer Support team here. The'll be happy to look in to this further.
