Not Confirming My Cancellation

Not Confirming My Cancellation

What I typically do with Spotify is buy premium and then cancel my subscription so I'm not chraged monthly. I like having the control to know if I'll be able to afford it and not happen to forget and be charged. It's nothing to do with the service, I'm overall happy with it. But sometimes premium isn't worth then ten that month compared to needing to pay for more necessary things.

I've never had a problem with doing this in the past. In fact, I've probably been doing this for close to a year now. However, when I went a head and tried to do so today I was met with a different outcome. I'm glad I checked my subscription page after doing so because it just didn't work. I choose my reason, hit cancel, scrolled down past the "please stay with us" page, and hit cancel again. I am then taken to the page that says "We're sorry to see you go..." "You can always renew..." and the playlist of songs. However, and this is what made me check it in the first place because it gave me a weird feeling, the address bar states this is the cancel/confirm page. There is no button to further my confirmation on this page, I've checked. Then it hit me, that it didn't even ask me to confirm using facebook like it typically does; it usually asks me to confirm by entering my password through facebook. And, man, am I glad I checked because I wouldn't have thought anything of it until I was charged next month.

I'm not sure if this is due to a site wide bug or something, as the site does seem to look updated, but this is a problem. I've tried multiple times to cancel, choosing different reasons each time even, with the same result. I will say, however, I am a bit weary of re-subscribing if it's going to do this every time I decide to cancel.

Sounds like buying one-off eCards might be a simpler solution for you (so you don't need to continually subscribe and cancel):

That's a good solution for the future, but that doesn't fix the current, serious, problem.

Have you tried a different browser? Having a look I can't see any other reports of this today.

Thank you kindly! That actually fixed the issue. It seems like it's a problem through FireFox as the 'authorize using facebook' button appeared when I went through using IE. Again, thank you muchly and for the ecard tip for the future! 🙂

No worries! Thanks for the report of the missing button, I will definitely escalate this to the Spotify teams if any other reports appear. 😉
