Sharing playlists with Duo

Sharing playlists with Duo

My wife and I are thinking of getting Duo. We have a individual premium currently and have built our library and playlists over the past years. If we get Duo, will we each be able to retain the current playlists and Library's?  Seems logical since the people sharing the account have to reside at same residence.

Hi there @PoppyRob1969,

Thanks for your post here in the Community and welcome. We moved your post to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

First up, bear in mind that Spotify accounts should not be shared, they're for personal use and each user can create one.

Now, Premium Duo is a discount plan for 2 people who live together. However, this doesn't mean you will both use the same account. Plan members have separate accounts with Premium features. This means that if you and your wife will start using Premium Duo, one of you will have to create a new account and join the plan to start using Premium from there. More info on how this subscription works can be found in this article.

The user that starts using the new account won't have access to the playlist you have in the original account. In this case, what you can do is, from the new account follow the playlists that are on the original account. That way both users can listen to the playlists.

Additionally, you can create Collaborative playlists and both of you will be able to add and remove music from them.

Hope this helps. We'll be here in case you have any questions.
