Spotify without Facebook in Germany?

Solved!

Spotify without Facebook in Germany?

So I'm hearing news that Spotify is allowing sign-ups in Germany without a Facebook connection now. While I'm not in Germany, I'm not getting any non-Facebook option in www.spotify.com/de/signup - the sign up page is different from  the Finnish one, but it's still only giving a Facebook button.

Is this an IP blocked thing? Why can't you just give EVERYONE access to signing up without Facebook?

Just confirmed this, I got the option to sign up without Facebook but only with a German proxy. Just open it up for everyone so we don't have to jump through pointless hoops.

I used this one:

Then, you enter this address: https://www.spotify.com/de/signup/open/

The option to sign up without Facebook is right under the Facebook button. You get a German signup where you put the username and everything, just like in the good old days before Spotify sold out.

Thank you for pointing it out. I recommend it for everyone. You can even choose a username. 😉

And no Facebook bleep.

Seems to be there is no way to discuss about it. But how the heck this is available for Germany peoples, but not to others???

Does Spotify ignore us?

It appears that Spotify's mandatory requirement of a Facebook account is incompatible with some of Germany's data protection laws...

That article was from back in March, so Spotify have obviously been keeping very quiet about this.

You only can use Spotify abroad for more than 14 days after sign-up.  For ability to change Country you need a German credit card. But let's hope that someday we see this option for registration in all countries.

Don't you just need a credit card for the country you want to change it to? If you are really from Germany, you don't need to do anything. If you're from, say, Sweden, you need a Swedish credit card to change it.

Indeed, in Germany, there are a unique set of guidelines regarding online companies and their log in procedures. Spotify always seeks to adhere to best practice guidelines in all of the countries in which we operate. We have therefore chosen to introduce this alternative log in process for Germany only. The log in process in all other countries remains the same.

Only have my facebook account because of spotify, so would it be possible to "disconnect" my spotify-account from facebook? Or do I have to delete my current one (+subscription) and create a new one?

Why can't you offer the non-Facebook option elsewhere, though? There's no reason to require a Facebook account. The only thing that's missing is the option to create a new Spotify account without a Facebook connection, that's not too hard to introduce.

You had the option to have a Spotify account in the past, why can't you re-introduce the option to all countries, not only Germany?

i'm from austria and use spotify for one month now. I would like to pay for it, but i also want a extra account from spotify and not a linked account via facebook.

should i create a account with a german proxy, or will it available to use this feature also in austria without facebook?

Sounds like at the moment the only way to do this is via a German proxy

Nobody knows if this will be rolled out outside Germany. They used to allow non-FB sign ups from all countries before, although back then there was no Facebook option of any kind. Right now Germany gets a choice between Facebook and Spotify details, others are screwed and forced to the Facebook option.

Like you see, I asked why the option can't be given to everyone and got no answer for it. Not very surprising.

If you do register through a proxy, immediately log in to the website and change the country to the correct one with your credit card info (doesn't need a payment). If you have no credit card, you're out of luck.
