I posted a question on another section of the Spotify Community forum. I got an email a few minutes later saying I had received a private message. I went to the site and clicked on the Community section, expecting to have an alert or something that would lead me to the message. Nothing. I checked the post itself, thinking maybe it meant a reply instead of private message. Nothing.
In fact, I can't find any reference to private messages ANYWHERE on the site. Am I being incredibly obtuse? What's going on here? If you know the answer and send it to me in private message, I pre-emptively hate you.

I think PM's are only available for Staff, Moderators and Founders at the moment - I'll need to check on the permissions...
Hi all. I am a member of another lithium community. There is a PM icon, however it looks as if the community manager for this community has disabled PM's globally - as the PM option in my settings isn't there either.
Ditto. I've spent the last 10 minutes searching around the community pages, my profile page, my settings, even searching the source HTML for any links to the PM feature that might be simply be missing an icon -- but nothing!
I'm not exactly a forum newbie so I would've been somewhat embarrassed to have had to broach the subject. So I'm glad you did it for me.
Edit: For reference, there is actually a FAQ page on the PM feature. However, it falls at the first hurdle:
To use the Private Messenger, you must be registered and signed in. You'll see a Private Message icon at the top of your page. If you have any new messages, you'll see the number of unread messages next to the envelope icon.
Click the message count or envelope icon to go to your Private Messages Inbox.
If there's an icon, it's absurdly well hidden!
(On that note, since this is a new forum, where should we leave feedback about bugs/suggestions about other forum features? I have a small list...!)

Same as Nicthemic just posted. The "click here" link is just to community.spotfy.com, not direct to a PM or inbox.
Now fixed -- I'm seeing the inbox icon and have access. Thank you sir!
I can confirm that Private Messaging is working for me, however, there seems to be a slight issue. I got a couple of automated messages at some point informing me that my rank had been upgraded based upon my participation in the forums. One of them came from myself as you indicated in a prior post here. One of them came from another user entirely. Not sure what happened here, but it seems rather odd.

I had one automated "new rank" (New Member) PM waiting, dated 2 weeks ago when I registered the community account, although that didn't generate an email notification. I also had one "legitimate" PM from Tuesday, which was what prompted the email.
